Orientation
Our Students and their parents are invited to join us in a school orientation session where you will meet your teachers, tour the campus, purchase uniform shirts, officially enroll in the school and prepare for the coming year. The HAIS School Orientation is set for August 5th from 9am to 1pm at 1515 Windbern, Houston TX 77004. (Building #16 on Map) We expect to see everyone there!
We will be officially enrolling you in the school on this day so be sure to bring the following documents with you:
The student's birth certificate or other proof of age and identity;
Parent's or guardian's proof of identity and residential address (driver's license and utility bill);
A record of your student's current immunizations signed by a doctor
- We will also need copies of student's 8th grade TAKS, Stanford and final report card
- You will also need to complete a transfer from your home school to our school. Please bring this with you to the orientation.
COMPASS Test
As a college preparatory school offering dual credit, we must know what academic level you are currently at so that we can prepare you for college level work. In order to determine this it is necessary for you to take the COMPASS college entrance exam.
The COMPASS test will be given to all HAIS incoming students on July 29th, 2006 at 9am at the HCC Central Campus San Jacinto Building.

- You must complete an application to Houston Community College online prior to taking this test (by July 27th). The website address to complete the application for admissions is: https://saweb.hccs.edu/PS8WEBAPP/

- Students must bring a picture ID with them when they take the COMPASS test
- The test is NOT timed so please plan accordingly.
This test serves as a pre-assessment for our teachers. We will use it to better service your academic needs. If you have questions or concerns please contact us. We are happy to assist you.
We understand that schedules vary and plans made prior to you receipt of this letter may prohibit you from attending one of these important events. Please call or e-mail us if this is the case so that we can make alternative arrangements.
Uniform
All students will wear a uniform for the 9th and 10th grades. The uniform will be khaki uniform pants and a white uniform shirt. Shirts with the school logo and jackets will be available for purchase at the orientation.
Schedule
School will begin at 8 a.m. each day and will dismiss at 3:30 p.m Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays. Tutorials and clubs will take place until 4:30. If it is determined that you are in need of assistance you will be provided with a tutorial schedule and attendance will be mandatory.
